Read the Word

Here are some of my favorite resources for READING the Word.

Remember, resources can’t make you read. Make it a discipline, a habit, to read the Bible every day.

Some of these products are affiliate links which helps me fund SPF at not additional cost to you when you click the link or choose to purchase.

ESV Journaling Bible

I love having space right in my Bible to make notes, observations, write out questions and quotes. I love working through the Scriptures and when I’m done, I’ll start a new one!

There are several kinds. I have a double column with a margin for notes on each page.

Bible phone apps

Olive Tree

My favorite Bible Reading Phone App is called Olive Tree. You can buy commentaries and get dictionaries, and all sorts of great add-ons. I love the Hebrew and Greek lexicons to help me dig deeper and the Matthew Henry Commentary.

Logos

Logos has a free version of their super robust seminary-style software that comes with some free resources. It’s a great app!

Bible Gateway

Bible gateway is my favorite app to listen to the Bible and copy and paste Bible verses to share on IG or with friends. They also offer free Bible reading plans and you can even get sent reminders to read!

My Favorite Bible Study Books

Family Worship Bible Guide – This book gives a little paragraph commentary to every chapter in the Bible! Plus one or two questions to help you think about the text.

Matthew Henry Concise Bible Commentary – a great little reading companion

Women of the Word by Jen Wilkin – a good book to learn to be a better Bible reader

ESV Illuminated Scripture Volume New Testament – This looks so fun! I do not have these, but I’ve heard great things! Your very own journal per book of the New Testament!
