Is the Word of God sufficient? Is it lacking any information or directives we need for this life? Does God give extra-biblical revelations? We are going to discuss why the Bible is enough for everything there is to do with life and godliness. Plus identify three struggles that sometimes cause us to look to outside sources.
The Bible Is Sufficient for Life
2 Timothy 3:14-17
1 Peter 1:3-4
The Bible is useful to instruct us in this life – including the basic fundamental understanding about God, our condition, and our purpose.
The Bible teaches us:
- Who is God?
- What is man’s condition?
- How does God save man?
- How should man live?
Ephesians 2:1-10 is a great summary of these fundamental instructions.
Three Struggles we have with the Sufficiency of Scripture:
- Discontentment of our life and calling
- Not understanding our purpose through a lack of knowledge of the Word of God
- Our hearts are idol factories and we are attracted to worship other things
Learn Scripture through Song: Seeds Family Worship
We are using this in our home and church to help our kids (and me) hide God’s Word in our hearts. Each song teaches word for word Scripture and its fun to sing! In addition to music there are music videos with animation to show the words. It’s a great resource.

“If the Reformation was about a recovery of the gospel, as it was, then it will never be possible for the central issues generated in the Reformation to become dated. As long as sinners need forgiveness, which promises to be a long time, the Reformation will continue to be relevant. Reformation 500 is dedicated to exploring a number of different ways in which this is so.”
