Life Hack: Wrapping Wrapping Paper
What do we do with a roll of flapping wrapping paper? Here’s a hack: Take an empty toilet paper tube and cut it lengthwise; wrap it around the roll of wrapping paper and secure with a rubber band – no more crinkles or tape-ripped paper!
Our Hope: The Lord is Our Righteousness
God raises us Jeremiah to be His prophet and deliver hard messages – good ones, but hard ones considering the audience – repentance messages of a people who aren’t really bothered by their choices.
Jeremiah 2:4-13
We see a people who have forgotten God, priests who were not leading the people in the worship of God but in idols, same with prophets and rulers. they “walked after things that did not profit.”
“For my people have committed two sins/evils: They have forsaken me, the fountain of living waters, to hewn for themselves cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water.” Jeremiah 2:13
-
They have forsaken God
-
They made themselves their own false saviors
Judah fell by God’s grace and God made a plan to redeem them.
Jeremiah 33:1-9
“Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.” Jeremiah 33:3
Jeremiah 33:14-18
“In those days Judah will be saved, and Jerusalem will dwell securely. And this is the name by which it will be called: ‘The Lord is our righteousness.’” Jeremiah 33:16
Christmas is the beginning of this fulfillment! His resurrection is the completion! WE get to see the fulfillment! Centuries pasted by – waiting waiting waiting – and we get to see it.
Immanuel – God with us. Jesus the ruling King.
The celebration of Christ’s birth is truly amazing – it is a reckoning of ourselves to the Lord THROUGH Christ. It is a Savior that will perfectly obey the law and be OUR righteousness.
