The First Two Things to Go in Abudance

Reading: Deuteronomy 8:1-18

When we are blessed. When we are fat and happy, the first two things that go:

  1. Remember the commands of God

  2. Remember to thank God

“Beware lest you say in your heart, ‘My power and the might of my hand have gotten me this wealth.’ You shall remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth, that he may confirm his covenant that he swore to your fathers, as it is this day” Deuteronomy 8:17-18

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.” James 1:17

History is Important

Part of remembering what God has done and giving Him thanks for His mighty hand and work means more than the happenings in our lives, or even in our current time.

God’s history equals more praise for Him.

Application

How do we prove faithful in times of abundance or need:

Treat them the same. Both meant for our good.

Read God’s Word and obey His commands

Remember what God has done and give thanks for His blessings.
