SPF 218: Don’t Be The Gullible Woman

There is a lot of temptation to trade the things of God for the things of this world. After all, sometimes what the world promises can seem better, more fulfilling and satisfying. But don’t take the bait. Today I’m going to share about two things that want to deceive you and pull you away from true fruitfulness. (Boss Babe and Respecting Husbands)

Don’t Be the Gullible Woman

A gullible woman is one who is easily deceived.

The gullible woman is led away from fruitfulness by her own lusts driven by discontentment and envy.

The world and it’s desires, which are passing away, are also luring the gullible woman with promises of fulfillment, satisfaction, happiness, and greener pastures.

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life —is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.

1 John 2:15-17

Part of being gullible is to think we cannot mortify sin.

Charles Spurgeon says:

“Vanish forever all thought of indulging the flesh if you would live in the power of your risen Lord. It were ill that a man who is alive in Christ should dwell in the corruption of sin. “Why seek ye the living among the dead?” said the angel to Magdalene. Should the living dwell in the sepulchre? … O Christian, the vows of God are upon you. You are God’s priest: act as such. You are God’s king: reign over your lusts. You are God’s chosen: do not associate with Belial. Heaven is your portion: live like a heavenly spirit, so shall you prove that you have true faith in Jesus, for there cannot be faith in the heart unless there be holiness in the life. “

Two things to Watch Out For

Number 1: Boss Babe

  1. Watch out for the temptation to be fulfilled outside the home by running a business or working.

  2. Watch out for the deception that our skills are better used outside the home.

  3. Watch out for the temptation to chase money and success above family.

Number 2: Not Respecting Our Husbands

  1. Watch out that our husband is the apple tree among the forest of trees.

  2. Watch out to not make our husbands earn respect in order for us to give it to them – we are commanded by God to give respect to our husbands.

  3. Watch out to not be deceived that a critical tongue is the way to a fruitful marriage.
